Top 5 – Best SEO Plugins for WordPress

Top 5 – Best SEO Plugins for WordPress

Insight ·

Novi Recommends Best SEO Plugins for WordPress:

If you’re looking for the best SEO plugins that WordPress is compatible with, we’ve compiled a guide to some of the must-haves. Below we outline the best SEO plugins for WordPress users who want to improve their ranking.

1. WP Rocket – Our Number 1 Favourite WordPress Plugin.

WP Rocket is a premium caching and performance optimisation plugin for WordPress websites. It aims to improve the loading speed of web pages, which can positively impact the user experience and search engine rankings.

How does WP Rocket work?

WP Rocket creates static HTML files from your dynamic WordPress content, which can be served to visitors more quickly than dynamically generated content. Some of its core features include:

  1. Page caching: WP Rocket creates a cached version of each page, serving visitors without needing PHP and database queries. This reduces server load and speeds up the page load time.

  2. Cache preloading: WP Rocket automatically preloads cache for your homepage and linked pages, making them available for fast delivery to users.

  3. GZIP compression: WP Rocket compresses HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files using GZIP compression, reducing the size of these files and improving page load times.

  4. Browser caching: WP Rocket sets appropriate headers to enable browser caching, which allows browsers to store static files like images, CSS, and JavaScript files locally, reducing the number of server requests.

  5. Lazy loading: WP Rocket enables lazy loading for images and other media, only loaded when visible on the user’s screen. This reduces the initial load time and improves perceived performance.

  6. Minification and concatenation: WP Rocket can minify and concatenate HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files, which removes unnecessary whitespace and combines multiple files into one, reducing the number of HTTP requests and improving load times.

Why is WP Rocket good for SEO?

Improving your website’s performance can positively impact your search engine rankings, as Google and other search engines consider page load speed a ranking factor. A faster-loading website offers a better user experience, which can lead to lower bounce rates, increased engagement, and higher conversion rates.

Utilising WP Rocket’s features lets you optimise your WordPress website. Therefore, you can use the plugin to make your website load faster and perform better in search engine results. This can lead to increased visibility, organic traffic, and overall improvements in your website’s SEO.

2. Yoast Premium

Yoast SEO is a website optimisation tool that enables a user to easily add SEO descriptions and titles to all pages and posts on a website. When using Yoast SEO, an automatic XML sitemap is created to ensure content can be easily searched by SEO bots that crawl your website.

Yoast SEO is arguably one of the best SEO plugins, as it allows users to optimise meta titles, manage SEO redirects and generate a sitemap quickly and efficiently. However, a potential limitation of Yoast SEO is that its writing assistant capabilities are not as comprehensive or user-friendly as SEMRush. If you are not a developer or a non-technical user, you may also struggle to understand the difference between the free and pro tiers, as it is not targeted at SEO beginners.

3. All-in-One SEO Pack

All in One SEO Pack is an SEO plugin suitable for SEO beginners or business owners who do not have developer knowledge. With All in One SEO Pack, you can easily add SEO titles, meta tags, image sitemaps and more to your website, optimising them for SEO. Out of the box, it works with the payment gateway WooCommerce but can be easily set up to work with other gateways and features.

All-in-One SEO Pack is similar to Yoast SEO but cheaper, making it more popular with smaller or large businesses with a tight SEO budget. However, as you are paying a lower price than Yoast, you should be prepared to receive fewer features. For example, the All in One SEO Pack does not offer an SEO score or content analysis like Yoast SEO.

4. Google Search Console

Google Search Console is considered one of the best SEO plugins for WordPress because it is free. A website owner can use Google Search Console to monitor their website ranking in Google. Users with this plugin will receive updates about their ranking. For example, users will receive an update when Google cannot crawl or index a page or post on your website and will then offer tips on fixing and preventing such an error.

However, the best feature of Google Search Console is that it shares data with you, such as your average rank position, anchor texts, and more, ensuring users can quickly improve their ranking by optimising the data they are shown. If you are stuck for blog ideas, a user can use Google Search Console to find blog ideas through the suggested keyword and search terms data. One potential drawback of Google Search Console is that it is quite a technical plugin, meaning it is not always easy for SEO beginners or non-developers. While all the data from the plugin is beneficial, having that much data available can be overwhelming and confusing.

5. SEMRush

SEMRush is popularly used by SEO specialists, marketers and small to large businesses. Ultimately, SEMRush is popular because it allows users to find search terms and keywords organically and identifies the search terms a website will easily rank for. Competitive research can be completed on a SEMRush WordPress plugin, allowing users to stay ahead of their competition and outrank them.

As a result, SEMRush is packed with features to help a WordPress website improve its SEO. One such tool is the SEO Writing Assistant tool, designed to help improve your website content. One notable drawback of SEMRush is that their plugin is available in a tiered pricing system, and you can only access some of their features, such as white-label reports, if you are willing to pay the highest subscription price. Their customer service is also prone to responding to queries 2-3 days later, meaning it is often difficult to receive immediate help from them.

In closing, if you are unsure which SEO plugin is right for your business or would like to learn more about the options available, contact novidigital today. There is no one-size-fits-all answer to which are the best SEO plugins. The right WordPress plugins depend on the unique needs of your business and your WordPress development skills.

novi.digital wins DADI Award for most effective use of paid media for their work with English Lakes Hotels

Insight ·

novi.digital are proud to have been awarded the DADI Award for ‘most effective use of paid search’ for their work with English Lakes Hotels. Since starting work in September 2017, novi.digital’s award winning campaign has achieved an astounding 2000% ROI, and continues to provide excellent results today.

novi.digital’s Google Search campaign for English Lakes Hotels was judged in the same category as many high profile organisations; such as MarPod, Tommy Hilfiger, Cancer Research UK, Blue Bay Travel, Evan Cycles, Aria Holidays and Dune London.

Competition in the category was extremely strong, and the win is a testament to the strength of the campaign and the working partnership between novi.digital and English Lakes Hotels.

Aaron Crewe, Managing Director and Founder of novi.digital commented:

“English Lakes came to novi.digital with a desire to exceed the performance of their hotels on Booking.com. Booking.com charges English Lakes Hotels 15% commission across all sales, and diverts traffic away from English Lakes carefully optimised website.

To achieve this, they needed an innovative agency to create a campaign which would ensure all of their hard earned profits were invested back into their business, and so appointed novi.digital who work in partnership with their clients to help them achieve their goals.”

Colin Fox, Group Marketing Manager at English Lakes Hotels commented:

“I see this as a great endorsement of our choice to use a young, forward thinking, local company to handle an increasingly important part of English Lakes Hotels leisure business conversion. Novi Digital have proved their research, delivery and management of our various PPC campaigns has been instrumental in making paid search another serious channel within our online strategy.”

Insight ·

novi.digital Welcomes Funnel Boost As New Client

novi.digital Welcomes Funnel Boost As New Client

Insight ·

Data-driven digital marketing agency, novi.digital, has announced its partnership with a new client, Funnel Boost.

Funnel Boost is a forward-thinking company that helps businesses to supercharge their sales funnel with B2B leads. It enables businesses to find and attract high-quality potential customers and will no doubt be an exciting addition to Novi.Digital’s portfolio of clients.

Funnel Boost is customer-centric and requires its customers to simply outline who their ideal customer is. It then takes this information and completes a full market assessment before providing their clients with a prospect list-build. Once a campaign is launched, Funnel Boost continue to tweak and optimise the content until it delivers the desired results.

A spokesperson for Funnel Boost said, ‘Funnel Boost are delighted to be working with novi.digital. We believe our two companies will work together incredibly successfully and create a, hopefully long-lasting, mutually beneficial working relationship.’

Since 2009, novi.digital has consistently welcomed a select number of clients and maintained regular company growth. For example, novi.digital welcomed both Lloyd Motor Group and English Lakes in 2019 as part of their new client acquisition initiative.

A company spokesperson for novi.digital said: “The entire novi.digital team would like to welcome Funnel Boost. We look forward to building a long relationship with Funnel Boost and will utilise our industry expertise to deliver the very best services for them. Our team is ready and waiting to deliver the PPC and SEO services for Funnel Boost that we are so well regarded for.”

The addition of a new client for novi.digital will be unsurprising for businesses within the digital marketing industry as novi.digital has maintained double-digit growth since 2009. The addition of Funnel Boost will no doubt see the 6-million novi.digital has spent on behalf of their clients continue to expand.

While the COVID-19 pandemic has undoubtedly been a challenge many businesses were forced to navigate, the pandemic has not slowed the success or growth of novi.digital. In 2020, novi.digital was ranked as the 16th best SEO agency in the UK, proving that the company is continuing to build momentum and acclaim as they were ranked in a similar list within the top 40 in 2019.

novi.digital announced as Best London SEO Agency by Wimgo

Insight ·

Wimgo has announced its list of top rated London SEO Agencies and we are proud to confirm that novi.digital has topped their list of twenty one of the best SEO digital marketing agencies.

Stating that novi.digital has built a “plethora of knowledge and experience”, Wimgo celebrates our work with a “wide range of industry sectors” (which you can see here) and appears to share our view that whilst digital marketing is a similar job no matter the industry, understanding the sector you’re working with is a way to guarantee a better result and, according to Wimgo, “gives [us] the game advantage”.

We are pleased with our place in the top spot, especially as Wimgo’s selection process is incredibly detailed and ensures that only the most effective companies achieve a place on this list.

What is Wimgo?

Wimgo is a team of dedicated professionals who review thousands of service providers in order to rank them in order to help other companies find the best service providers to fit their needs. Working hard to recommend the right companies, Wimgo has helped create over one million connections with 95% of them resulting in positive, high quality outcomes for both companies.

You can find out more about Wimgo through their site here.

How does Wimgo decide?

Wimgo has a strict screening criterion in order to make sure their recommendations are of the highest quality. Wimgo first uses a data team to gather information on all the different candidates before screening them, eliminating any companies with red flags (which can be anything from legal issues to unresolved complaints).

Once a company qualifies, Wimgo conducts a thorough analysis on each company, using five specific criteria. Wimgo first analyses the reputation of a company by looking at all reviews across verified platforms in order to determine the overall impression of the company. They also look at the knowledge of the team as well as the number of years the company has been in business in order to evaluate the expertise of the company. Wimgo also looks at the speed, value and quality of the service as well as the consistency of this service. Finally, Wimgo looks at the reputation and quality of customer experience within the company.

This multi-phase process ensures that the companies that Wimgo recommends are of the best value.

Our guide to digital marketing during the Coronavirus pandemic

During these uncertain times, it is important for businesses to adapt to the economy’s landscape. While many of these changes that we are experiencing around the globe are temporary, there are many sectors that are sure to change for the long term. With many countries experiencing lockdown, industries are in an unprecedented state of flux. There are, however, ways in which businesses can not only keep their heads above water, but anticipate and react to trends that are emerging as a result of COVID-19. In this article, we’ll go through some of the sectors that are seeing signs of growth despite national lockdown and how other businesses can follow suit.

Mobile Ordering and Desktop Browsing

Every business owner will be well aware of the rising prominence of mobile ordering in recent years. With more people spending time indoors and on their devices, this trend has been significantly magnified. As found in a recent Engine survey on Coronavirus, people are spending anywhere between 10-30% more time online due to Coronavirus with the bulk of this time being spent on mobiles. According to Riskified’s recent e-commerce data study, mobile app sales increased by 71% during the first two weeks for the food industry alone. While there has been a decrease in desktop use, countries in lockdown have still ultimately seen significant growth in consumer time spent online.

With e-commerce now being centred around a multi-device journey, it is important to target both areas as there is a strong interaction between the two. At novi.digital, we are able to carry out UX audits and build full strategies for clients so that both of these areas are optimised. Once we have a clear understanding of your business, we will usually recommend one or a combination of our services that target areas of improvement:

To talk to us about your business’s requirements, please get in touch.

Industry Coronavirus Trends

While many industries have been affected for the worse by Coronavirus, there are some sectors that have grown as a result of lockdown. Below are some of the industries that have been stimulated by people spending more time indoors. For business owners that are not working in or with these sectors, there is still plenty to consider about what could be learnt from them.

Technology Developers and Digital Communications

Social distancing has necessarily resulted in a wide variety of sectors being required to work from home and, as a result, technology develops associated with these industries have grown significantly. Fintech, for instance has seen a 72% increase in app use as a result of lockdown as found by the deVere Group. This trend, however, extends to all areas of technology that assists with business: video teleconferencing, MarTech, EdTech, AdTech, and digital communications more broadly.

Online Grocery Purchases and Food Delivery

While the initial panic buying that accompanied the announcement of COVID-19 as a pandemic has largely subsided, increased online grocery sales remain as a result of lockdown. With 43% spending more online on their regular shop since the outbreak and food deliveries becoming the new ‘norm’, it is very likely that online grocery sales will see long term growth as a result of Coronavirus. Similarly, non-grocery food delivery services are up by 11.5% from the same time last year.

Video Gaming and Esports

As a result of lockdown, people are finding new ways to keep themselves entertained whilst indoors. As found in a recent Mintel study on gaming trends, the share of adults who play video games in the UK had increased from 59% to 71% between 2018 and 2019. This is development is sure to only magnify. While this is particularly useful for video game developers, sports brands have also highlighted how this trend can be utilised by becoming more actively involved in Esport tournaments than ever before. This move towards digital entertainment has also seen a sharp increase device sales, such as TVs, games consoles, and computer monitors for home work set ups.

Cleaning Products and PPE

It would be easy to dismiss the growth in the cleaning product and PPE sectors as a short term boost that will only last as long as the Coronavirus is a public health threat. However, for businesses within the cleaning product sector, there has been a noticeable shift in consumer behaviour towards eco-friendly options as discussed by Mintel. This is a trend that is sure to remain in the long term as consumers engage in increasingly health and environmentally-conscious buying. Similarly, in the aftermath of SARS that largely remained within China, PPE became more commonplace in day-to-day life. With Coronavirus reaching and affecting far more countries, it is very likely that PPE manufacturers will experience continued growth.

Wellbeing and Health

As a public health crisis, COVID-19 has naturally resulted in more people considering their personal wellbeing and mental health. As indicated by the recently popular free sleep therapy sessions of meditation app, Headspace, consumers are exploring new ways to look after themselves. Individual self-care is something that is, more broadly, developed as a result of self-isolation which is something also seen in the conversation surrounding healthy eating that has resulted from COVID-19. With 70% of new human diseases originating from animals, the already-growing plant-based diet trend is sure to only develop further.

Online Fitness and Learning

Without the ability to leave the home for anything that is not essential, online learning and personal fitness has found a new home online. Subscription services for online gym instructors and virtual learning environments has risen sharply as more people spend time indoors. As discussed in a recently published Times article on Coronavirus’s effect on education, the move towards virtual learning was one already occurring at universities around the world. Technology-based resources for fitness and education will only grow further as more people explore these avenues during lockdown.

Building a Strategy

Whether your business is working directly in an advantageous sector or not, our team can help go through transferable areas based on the insights discussed in this article. Whether this is improving your business’s SEO and mobile friendliness, or helping develop a more comprehensive strategy that works with other sectors, our team can help point you in the right direction.

  1. Know your figures – A successful digital marketing campaign is dependent on order, so knowing your business’s financials and figures is a vital foundation.
  • Establish your brand – Not every business can be revolutionary but every business should have a clear grasp of the USPs that make it stand out from the crowd.
  • Understand your audience – Knowing who your audience are and what they want underlies every aspect of a digital marketing campaign, so plenty of time should be spent establishing this beforehand.
  • Have clear goals – Having a set of targets to work towards can concentrate efforts so that time and energy is not lost trying to get too much done at once.
  • Analyse and innovate – While it is easy to assume that your business simply isn’t getting seen by the right people, it is important to retain a degree of scrutiny for your business to make improvements wherever possible.

To discuss your goals with us an organise a free SEO or PPC audit, please get in touch with us.
